Urban workers
Industry dominated large parts of Barrow for much of the 1900s, with major employers including the shipyard, the iron and steel works and the papermill. The Sankeys gained access to many of these sites, recording people in their normal working environment. The relative lack of Health and Safety rules at the time is very apparent.
