Launch of SS Geraldine Mary

View from the southern side of the slipway of ship just fully in the water with fine spray dust near the bow. Small number of workers, two men in trilby hats and one in a bowler watching. Electric motor and winch visible on left. Tug hidden behind structure on left. Built for the Anglo-Newfoundland Shipping Co Ltd, managers Donaldson Bros & Black Ltd. Torpedoed and sunk 4 August 1940 on way to Manchester carrying 6112 tons of newsprint and 494 tons of sulphite pulp. Shape of bow to manage ice.
