Knott End Ferry Wyresdale
1925 onwards
View of the port side of steam ferry Wyresdale steaming the tide near the Fleetwood shore. Nearly 50 passengers visible. Second ferry at Knott End jetty. The Ferry was built by James Robertsons of Fleetwood and started service in 1925 and was the main ferry for many years. Her funnel was heightened in later years. She suffered a boiler explosion in 1957 causing three deaths. She was re engined with diesels and was used at Morecambe for a while.
