SS Dalegarth Force

View of port aft quarter of ship stationary head to wind. Small cargo vessel registered in Whitehaven. Man in rowing boat near side of vessel. Crew visible at doors with one man in white on deck. Built 1919 J. Fullerton & Co, Paisley, Merksworth Works as SS Croxteth for West Lancashire SS Co Ltd. Subsequently sold to West Coast Shipping Co Ltd in 1919 ( managers Kennaugh & Co) and renamed Dalegarth Force. Broken up Granton 5 Feb 1959. She replaced a similar 1913 ship, of the same name, that was taken up by the Admiralty in WW1 and sunk by U boat 18 April 1918 with the loss of five lives.
