Launch of TSS Kedah

View of ship just as she enters the channel before the drag chains are tensioned. Just three chains on the port side fitted. Approximately forty workers sitting and standing on structures on the left. Leading light tower visible on Walney. Two rowing boat on right ready to collect launch timbers. Built for Straits Steamship Co Ltd, Singapore, to act as a feeder ship for the Blue Funnel Line at Singapore. Became an armed auxiliary vessel for the RN in 1939. Had an interesting war. In 1946 she was sold to an Israeli company before being scrapped at Newport in Oct 1956
