Following many trials and tribulations on 8 September 1938 Empire Day piloted by Edward Spurr unofficially broke the world speed record for its 400kg class at 73 m.p.h. Spurr commented how perfectly steady she felt at planing speed and the small almost drag free rudder gave perfect control.
