Swimming Bath De-luxe, Abbey Road, Barrow
1930s
Beautifully composed shot along the length of pool to the Deep End with diving boards. Symmetrical reflections of arched windows, ceiling and balcony in water so clear you can see the tiles on the bottom. Opened in 1915, extended in 1931, the public swimming pool was badly damaged by bombing in 1941, repaired and extended in the 1950s and closed in September 1991.
