The Beach Walney Island
1930s
Looking northeast at Sandy Gap (The Shore) on a pleasant, summer holiday or weekend late afternoon. Crowds relax, many on deck chairs. One man relaxes in suit, tie, formal shoes and hat. Gulls quarrel in the air. On the track at the rear of the shingle bank, a horse-drawn ice cream cart attracts patrons. A tower ('Fort Walney’) can be seen on the left horizon.
