Furness Abbey

Looking north at Furness Abbey in the Vale of the Deadly Nightshade from the top of the amphitheatre. Manor Road curves in a U-shape in front of the abbey and round Abbots Wood, the guest house chapel prominent next to the road. Behind the Abbey, where many visitors stroll among the ruins, above the trees may be seen the chimneys and roofs of the Lutyens-designed Abbey House, now a hotel.
