Strathaird Avenue

Late 1950s

Young trees line Strathaird Avenue, one also obvious in Bermuda Crescent where the photographer stands. Pairs of neat, semi-detached houses stand with established hedges in their front gardens while small lamp posts and telephone poles line the street. Television is well-established – most houses have the large H or X aerials for 405 lines VHF BBC tv reception, few have the ITV aerials introduced with Granada in 1956.
