Portrait format. Looking into the internal yard of the Barrow power station at Buccleuch Street. The yard is surrounded by workshop buildings and a large wooden cooling tower. Behind the workshops is a multi-storey factory building. This has four tall chimneys and a hoist with loading bay doors at the top level. There is a cement mixer in the yard and two workmen close by.
