Three girls and three boys paddling at the edge of the sea look into the afternoon sun to watch passengers transfer between a horse-drawn cart and a sailing boat – a 'Nobby’ used for pleasure trips. A crew member watches from deeper water as two of his colleagues assist passengers. On the horizon is another sailing boat while the end of a pier can be seen to the right.
