(Central Beach, Blackpool)
1900s to 1910s
Looking south from the Promenade, Blackpool towards the Central Pier, many families crowd on the sand where several stalls supply refreshment; more watch from the prom. In the shallows a number of bathing machines await customers. One is in the deeper water alongside three 'Nobbies’ ready to give pleasure trips – some customers are approaching in a horse-drawn cart. Two mobile walkways to access Nobbies wait in the shallows.
