Ropemaking Dept. Barrow Ropewalks, Ltd
c. 1906
Barrow Rope Works - interior view (factory sited between Cavendish Dock and Ramsden Dock). Two men attend the rope making machine. Bales of raw fibre on the right. Spools of yarn on the left. The huge shed stretches behind them. Above are the shafts and belts from the steam engine. No rope is connected to the machine suggesting they are posing, not working. One of the men appears with a cat in a related image ( number 99).
