Buccleuch Dock Bridge Raised

1910s

View from Barrow Island side to bridge and the operating cabin on stilts. This is a rolling lift bridge that has a rounded section which allows the bridge span to rotate lifting the deck into a vertical position to allow ships to leave the dock. Lots of men on either side of the opening. Two workmen with shovels on the embankment on this side and five men waiting to cross on the Barrow side.
