Early 20th Century
Portrait view. Looking North to Lindeth tower, a square three storey castellated tower. The side viewed has two windows at second and third floor levels. A stone wall on the left borders a garden or orchard in front of the tower. The author Elizabeth Gaskell used the tower for holidays in the 1840s and 50s. She wrote her novel Ruth in the tower.
