Bateson’s Band at Lakeside Pavilion
1910s
View inside the tearoom pavilion at Lakeside Station with Bateson’s Orchestral Band dressed formally in suits, bow ties and caps. Mr Bateson plays the cornet and his wife the violin. Four other men play harp, flute clarinet and double bass. There are pictures and adverts on the café wall. Ken Norman names the other members as Mr Nightingale, harpist from Ely; Mr Booth, flute, from Accrington; and Mr Walker, double base from Shipley. The clarinettist is unknown. The Batesons were from Bowness. See 5715.
