Sailing On The Steam Yacht Teal

1910s

View from the stern of the steam yacht Teal showing a small section of the vessel with a lifebelt, a few passengers and the funnel. The image was clearly taken for the herring gulls flying in close. The photographer has done well to get a crisp focus on a moving object from another moving object. Large building in front on the far side of Windermere is probably Storrs Hall Hotel. Storrs Hall was sold to John Bolton of Ulverston in 1804. He made his wealth in the Liverpool slave trade.
