View up to the Candlestick Chimney at Wellington Pit and Harbour View Terrace, high above, from the quayside. The Pithead gear is in the centre with the spoil, waste rock, falling right down to the beach. The people on the tips are probably coal pickers. Small tank locomotive waits with trucks at bottom left. A boy sits on the stones and a girl looks up to the photographer. There are around 30 people in this photograph.
