King Street

1920s

View from Lowther Street along a crowded King Street with shops on both sides. A group of men and children stand outside an ironmonger’s shop advertising fireworks. A large carved lion stands on a platform above The Black Lion and several shops have awnings. Opposite are Tyson’s drapers, a cycle shop, Dixon’s Bon Marche and other signs leading down to C Ellis, tailors and mercers where Duke Street crosses.
