View From The Sea
1920s
View into the town across the Outer Harbour and past the North Pier lighthouse. The large building and the chimney belching smoke is Beacon’s Mill on the site of the old shipbuilding yard. St James' Church tower is prominent in the centre above the Inner harbour walls where you can just make out cranes and railway wagons. Much of the town is obscured by smoke from domestic chimneys.
