View west from St Michael’s Church tower over streets, the Harbour and the River Derwent joining the sea. Railway track and wagons on both sides of harbour with cranes. Partly demolished Lowther Iron Works across river. Several chimneys, bottom right is at the sawmill. Station to left of bridge with signal gantry. Several horse drawn carts a. Advert for Keatings – cough medicine. Small boats at moorings. Washing hanging out to dry.
