Panoramic View Of The Town
1920s
View north west from high ground with Criffel and the Dumfries hills across the Solway. The skyline from the left shows the Lonsdale Dock, the partially demolished Lowther Iron Works with a square chimney, Workington Hematite Iron and Steel Works and the domed tower of Trinity Methodist Church. The railway to Cleator snakes through the middle. A whole gable advertises "Try Ambrose Palmer for house painting”. Washing on the lines.
