Looking North West to a group of industrial buildings and houses situated on the west side of the river Leven under the tree covered fell of Haverthwaite Heights. The river falls over a series of weirs and waterfalls and the chimney of the Blue Works rises out of the trees to the right of the village. In the foreground are several allotments with small wooden huts and chickens.
