The harbour viewed looking south from a high viewpoint. Twin railway lines in foreground pass buildings and two gasometers. Goods wagons in a siding close to the waterfront, various buildings surround the harbour, three cranes on the quaysides. Iron works with three chimneys to the south, bridge and pier to the right. Further south in distance are the chimneys of mills at Lowca above Whitehaven.
