Bowness Bay Boat Landing and Old England

c1925

Looking north at the Bowness Bay waterfront from the steamer pier with the Old England Hotel and tower of Saint Martin's Church in the background, the latter apparently flying the White Ensign. In the foreground, rowing boats and canoes for hire sit on the foreshore in front of the huts used as a base by the rental operations. In a scene almost devoid of human presence, save for three women walking toward the promenade, look closer and you see several men in front of those huts, perhaps preparing for their day's activities.
