"Mon. 10.55 AM It's raining but we're catching the 12.27 to Keswick - hope it clears up. We went to Windermere yesterday - was sunny in the afternoon. Mrs. Davies left Kendal Sat. morning. W. and G. have broken it off. Have carried out your instructions so far - pattings etc. J. has a mania for postcards. - awful. Len got the sack - Louis (?). still here - great thrill. - suede shoes. How are the G.Is doing? Must scram now, cheerio, Elsie. P.S. J's journey up - 4 W.OPS (inc 1 Chinese) - - said she enjoyed herself. Annexed sailor on Lancaster bus station. Tell Jim to warn the R.A.P.C.”
