A scene on the floor of a quarry where two workers wearing flat caps are 'fettling' sections of narrow-gauge railway track with other sections in the background. Two colleagues are bent down, working on a ledge some three metres up the face. They have a two-metre rod and may be preparing a charge for blasting. To the left, there appears to be a small pile of dressed stone.
