Bare Village

Early 20th century

Looking south along Bare Lane, on the left side of the road a wall and railings mark the grounds of Bare Hall. On the pavement outside, three large trees bear the first leaves of spring while the road is deserted apart from three women crossing in the distance. On the opposite side of the photo, white-painted houses line the pavement, an exception being the gable end of an unpainted, larger house at right angles. A worker using a ladder carries out maintenance at one house.
