The Avenue Bare

Early 20th century

Looking west along Bare Avenue, a sinuous street of relatively modern-looking, bay-windowed, semi-detached houses, some with bays on the upper floor, too. Garden walls are surmounted by wooden fences; Gate Posts have ball-tops. Young trees are not yet fully-established and share the pavement with traditional lanterns of the gas-type, whether converted to electricity is unclear. Opposite the houses, a worker attends to a lantern from a ladder leaning against the bars of the standard.
