The Harbour

Early 20th century

Looking east at the South Gut, the original Workington harbour. On the right is the Town (or South) Quay alongside which two small, possibly fishing vessels and a barge are moored, one largely obscured by the topography. On the opposite side the quay walls are deteriorated and a large sign cautions against anchorage. Beyond the port are town houses, iron works and churches with the Lakeland fells beyond.
