Looking north at the panorama of the Furness and Lakeland fells providing a setting for the (Duddon) estuary. Large numbers of people are enjoying a day at the beach. Some paddle in the tidal pools, others walk along the beach, shingle or grass behind. Several groups sit on the grass and one lady has set up a 'shop' on a table. To the right, are a row of single storey, white-fronted cottages at right angles to some two-storey cottages.
