Bardsea Village from Birkrigg
Early 20th century
Looking east across a wood from a rural raised point to the west of the village (possibly near the Birkrigg Stone Circle) at Bardsea, spread out towards the coast beyond. The village, with many wooded areas surrounding it, looks neat in the late afternoon sunshine and Holy Trinity church with its spire is prominent. The Leven estuary spreads out with the Holker area beyond and raised ground near Silverdale evident beyond that. The tide is neither in nor out and the trees on Chapel Island stand out in mid-estuary.
