Arnside Viaduct

Early 20th Century

A traditional view from the south-eastern corner, looking along the length of the viaduct from the shoreline. The geared piece of equipment is in the foreground of the main (boat-passing) arch. Speculation suggests that the winch and chains may have something to do with the rebuild of the bridge during WW1, perhaps to do with lifting and safety respectively.
