Mount Orgueil

Early 20th Century

Looking east from the beach to Mont Orgueil Castle, the mid-point of Jersey's eastern coast. A young boy walks towards the camera. Clearly visible is Cantell's British Hotel (George Lestang purchased the Hotel in 1905 and it then became 'Lestang’s British Hotel’. - though when the lettering was changed is not easy to find). Main's Elfine Hotel is also visible. Rowing boats and sailing boats, including quite a large one, are visible on the shore. Horse-drawn gigs await outside the hotels.
