Madeley Court

Early 20th Century

An ancient C16th Manor House, originally a grange for Wenlock Priory nearby. (Now Grade II* listed). The picture is taken across the reed-fringed fishpond(?) or lake, with cows grazing next to the buildings. Most of the building looks dilapidated. It is now (2021) an upmarket hotel. Ironmaster Abraham Darby rented the house in the C18th.
