The Esplanade, Ambleside
Mid 1920s
View east across Windermere at the head of the lake taken from a boat. The Esplanade is a terrace of four-storey buildings between the shore and the main road to Kendal. The Swift is moored at the Ambleside Pier with its home port as Barrow, recognizing its Furness Railway ownership. No passengers are aboard but three crewmen are working on the end of the pier.
