St Bees Head
Mid 1920s
Portrait view south from the top of the cliffs at South Head beyond Fleswick Bay. High, shattered sandstone cliffs drop straight down to the sea. A few seabirds can be seen on the nesting ledges but it is clearly not the breeding season when there would be thousands here. A line of telegraph poles follow the cliff path towards St Bees village.
