"Mr R [Dann] This is the Dept. where I work. The two articles like gasometers are the working chambers + the gun mount. The two boiler like affairs (those near the 2 men on right) are trunks these extend from shell room to gun breach and have hydraulic cages to carry shells. One trunk feeds 2 guns at the rate of 2 shells each per minute. In the distance we have two guns in the armour arrangement which in turn goes on top of gun mount. The 3 guns on the [nests] on the floor are 13.5” in diameter. They fire 80 shells + then require fluted rifling inside renewing. ”
