Looking north and down to Wellington coal mine and outer harbour at Whitehaven. In the foreground ramshackle fences and huts surround an allotment which has some hens enclosed within, this and another allotment to the left back on to a small group of houses above the coalmine. Tall chimney on each side of the mine complex, beyond are the walls and entrance of the outer harbour. Man working in left allotment.
