Viewed from close to railway sidings with rows of coal wagons are the twin headstock towers and pit head wheels at the Haig pit. Behind these is a large building with a tall chimney which would have contained the winding gear, winding engine and boilers. Other ancillary buildings and a telegraph pole to the left.
