The River Duddon and Hardknott

mid-20th century

Looking northeast, close to the point where the flat valley bottom may be farmed comes to an end and the transfer to a narrow upland valley begins, the rocky River Duddon meanders along the valley floor. Beyond a rocky outcrop on the left, a gate in a dry-stone wall leads from a riverside track to a pasture and a number of individual trees may be seen along the river banks. The title 'H65/211 River Duddon and Hardknott (sic)' has been added to the negative for postcard printing purposes.
