On the east side of the A591 outside Rydal village going towards Grasmere (NY361063). A rocky outcrop on the roadside with steps cut in to get to the top. Supposedly where the poet William Wordsworth would sit and take in the view. Famous picture was taken as a stock publicity photograph for The Furness railway company.
