Looking north along Church Stile, with mature trees on either side except for a large area for parking on the right in front of the Rothay Hotel (Wordsworth Hotel in 2021) built in slate and with a number of gables and gabled windows along the front, part of which is has a glazed canopy and entrance. Several cars are parked in front of/near the hotel which has the single-storey Rothay Bar at right angles, facing the photographer while a number of people walk along the roads. Fells may be seen in the background. The image is printed with 'H549/216 Rothay Hotel Grasmere' for postcard printing purposes.
