Grasmere From Red Bank

Mid-20th Century

Looking north from Red Bank, covered with bracken and trees, at the lake and then the valley north of Grasmere which is dotted with trees around many of its fields, extending a third of the way up the fellside either side of Dunmail Raise which present a more forbidding impression beneath cloudy skies. The Prince of Wales Hotel (in 2021 The Daffodil Hotel) is clearly visible close to the lakeshore in the middle distance. The image is printed with 'H552/216 Grasmere and Dunmail Raise from Red Bank' for postcard printing purposes. (cf H552)
