Wha House Eskdale
Mid-20th Century
Looking southwest in winter at a traditional, whitewashed Lakeland farm with porch, next to a stone-built barn. A number of additional building make up the complex, set among mature trees, including a cottage at right-angles behind the farmhouse, both buildings having smoke coming from a chimney. A solitary sheep grazes in the field in front of the farm, behind which the slope falls to the river, beyond which the fells rise steeply at the far side of the valley. The image is titled 'H583/205 Wha House Eskdale' for postcard printing purposes.
