Looking north-west over the turntable at Dalegarth station, a single-storey wooden building alongside the platform where many people watch the arrival of a well-filled train, hauled by locomotive 'River Esk'. The adjacent track is clear and, on the wall beside it, a man and a youth photograph the scene. At the far end of the station, trees line the river beyond which a single field gives way to the steep fellside.
