The Bay Horse Inn, Hawcoat

Mid 20th century

Bay Horse Inn, Hawcoat. Opened by Case's Brewery in 1927. This picture could have been when it was new. Very tall aerials, and the intricate cowl on the chimney. The Smoke Room faces Dalton Lane, while the main building fronts Rakesmoor Lane as it meets Hawcoat Lane. A bench looks onto the fields down towards the Abbey.Hawcoat was just about a separate village on the outskirts of Barrow until the 1930s.
