Boating at Silloth
Mid-20th century
Looking slightly north of west from above a stony beach across the Solway on a sunny afternoon, Criffel and the Dumfriesshire hills silhouetted against the bright sky. The main focus of the image is a substantial wooden boat - unusually with a Carlisle registration, CL 7 - moored to a pontoon with access gangway to the shore, a man standing onboard next to the mast. Two families wait to board at the shore at the end of the gangway. Nearby, just offshore, is a nautical marker. The image is titled 'Boating at Silloth' for postcard printing purposes.
