Victoria Pier and Promenade

Early C20th

A view back eastwards along Victoria (now South) Pier towards the Promenade. The edge of the open-air swimming pool is just visible on the right, and the entrance to Happyland is to the north of the Pier entrance. Each bay on the pier has its own glazed shelter. Several single-deck and one double-deck trams are visible, with many looking very crowded. There are a few people braving the beach, and walking the pier. The cast iron bench along the whole pier is seen to good effect.
